A team made up of students of the Elmore Stoutt High School (ESHS), came out as the top team at the first annual Virgin Islands National Archery in Schools Programme (NASP), powered by the Virgin Islands Archery Association.

ESHS dominated the competition, which saw registration from over 60 students from schools based in the Territory, namely Francis Lettsome Primary, Williard Wheatley Primary, Bregado Flax and Cedar School.

The competition took place at the Multipurpose Sports Complex over the weekend.

With their win, each student on the ESHS team received a cash prize of $350.

The event also saw the announcement of individual male and female winners for the whole competition, where the winners were also awarded with grand crash prizes.

In the female category, Shania Daigneault of the Elmore Stoutt High School was awarded as top female, and received a cash scholarship of $3000. Hailey Chomiak and Georgia Jermyn, both of Ceder International, received $2000 for 2nd place and $1000 for 3rd place, respectively.

For the males, Rayne Duff of Cedar International walked away with the grand prize after securing first place. D’moi Martin placed second and Raymech Brown placed third.

The grants are efforts made by NASP to assist the winners with paying educational expenses after graduating high school. The student chooses the college and NASP sends the scholarship check.
