20th June 2010 - All residents are reminded that the Flash Flood Watch issued by the Antigua Meteorological Service for the Virgin Islands will continue until 6 pm today.
Currently, the local area is experiencing moderate to heavy rainfall with occasional thunderstorm activity and some wind gusts. Grounds have been heavily saturated due to consistent precipitation during this weekend, which could lead to flooding, rock falls and landslides if heavy rains persist.
The DDM has received reports of a fallen wall in the Baughers Bay/Fort Hill area and debris on the roadway in Sea Cows Bay.

The current conditions are resulting from the impact of Tropical Disturbance 10 which is presently SSW of the Dominican Republic, moving westward at near 13 mph. This system has been producing the showers and thunderstorms that we have been experiencing. Local seas are currently moderate to rough, with waves of 1.5-2.1m or 5-7ft. As a result, the small craft advisory remains in effect due to choppy sea conditions.
Tropical Disturbance 10 is expected to move to the west and west-northwest while in the Caribbean Sea. This would keep the disturbance just south of Hispaniola and Cuba over the next 3 to 4 days. It is expected that this disturbance will enter the Gulf of Mexico late this coming Wednesday or early Thursday.
Residents and emergency response workers are urged to remain alert to the weather conditions, and are reminded that this system may continue to cause flooding of homes, difficult driving conditions and the impact of squall-like conditions on vessels at sea. All motorists, especially while driving in elevated areas, are asked to exercise caution on the roads, as visibility may be poor, rocks and other debris may create challenges while navigating the roads and standing water may be deeper than anticipated. Persons wishing to report incidents caused by the current weather conditions can call 911, or the Fire and Rescue Service at (284) 494-3473 throughout the remainder of the weekend.
