Tropical Wave Affecting Local Area

A tropical wave will continue to move across the local area today and then away from the local region tonight. This wave will continue to produce showers and thunderstorms with gusty winds mainly from the east between 18 to 20 mph across the regional waters through early tonight. A moderate to fresh trade wind flow will continue across the local waters through at least Sunday maintaining locally rough and hazardous seas between 8 to 9 feet. Locally, visibilities 1 nautical mile or less in scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms. A small craft advisory is in effect through Saturday afternoon. A second tropical wave is expected to move across the local area Monday through Monday night.

Residents and visitors are reminded to exercise caution as flooded roadways can be hazardous while driving. In addition Mariners while operating small vessels should exercise caution on open waters due to squall like conditions in thunderstorms.
