Elmo Connor who is accused of stealing a water pump worth close to $500.00 from the Parsons family in Brewer´s Bay, will stand trial on September 29.
Connor who is charged with theft, appeared in court with his lawyer Stephen Daniels on Tuesday afternoon where the date was confirmed.
Crown Counsel Leslie Ann Faulkner told the court that the file in the case against the defendant is ready.
The allegations against Connor is that on the day in question, a caretaker was taking Mr. Parsons for a walk when they saw a male person in the vicinity of the well where the pump is attached. The pump is placed there in order for the Parsons to access water.
When they came closer to the area, the man (Connor) was seen kicking the pipe and then he removed it from the well, placing it in the back of his vehicle.
Connor then dusted off his hands and went inside his vehicle as they approached him.
The caretaker asked him why he moved the pump and Connor told them that agriculture will replace the pump and he drove off.
A report was made to the Police Station and Connor was contacted.
According to the allegations, around this same time, an old rusty pump was replaced in the area, but this was not the pump that the businessman allegedly stole.
It was also stated that during an interview with Police, Connor stated that he was in the area, but did not remove the pump. He also allegedly told them that he can repay for the pump.
