The Rotary Clubs of the British Virgin Islands will collectively say `Thank You´ to the people of the Territory for their generosity towards the Haiti Relief Project, when Rotarians and friends join in the Festival celebration as part of the annual August, Tuesday festival parade.
The annual tradition of the Rotary Troupe at the August Festival parade is ingrained in the BVI. People simply look forward to it. This year we will leave our float behind and walk, ride bikes, roller skate, skip, dance and have fun while thanking the community verbally and with creative messages.
The people of the BVI reached out and assisted the Rotary Clubs of the BVI in raising funds for the Haiti Relief Project. "While we have said thanks in many ways, the August Festival parade is another medium by which we will say thank you in a special Rotary way," said President of the Rotary Club of Tortola Lorna Smith.
Combined the Rotary Clubs and other affiliated clubs of the BVI boast over 300 members and expects to have a great turn out this year when friends and supporters of Rotary also join in this effort. Additionally, with the installation of the new presidents of each club it will also provide an opportunity for the Club to share their mission with the community and for the community to become familiar with the faces of Rotary and its leadership.
Persons interested in being a part of the Rotary troupe are asked to contact any member of Rotary.
